Language tutoring 101
I always get asked why language tutoring is so important, and what I always think to myself is that there isn’t a single definitive answer. With that in mind, I thought I’d put together my thoughts and experiences so that you can judge for yourself.
You want to be able to get the best grade possible
If you want to be able to get a great grade, then a tutor is the person that could make all the difference. It can be so hard to know why you’re not getting the grades you feel your hard work deserves, and it can also be rather frustrating. If you want to be able to take things to the next level, then working with an expert could be exactly what you need to make it happen.
Check you have the right rapport and chemistry, and then when you find the right match give it your full attention and concentration. You’ll notice the difference in just a couple of weeks if my experience is anything to go by.
The written word is so integral to every job these days
The vast majority of jobs will require you to have an email account and to answer messages. Obviously if you struggle to get your point across accurately and succinctly then you’re going to struggle with this aspect of the modern jobs market. You could of course avoid any roles which ask this of you, but then you’re drastically limiting yourself to a narrow band of potential careers.
When you can get your meanings across on paper new opportunities arise
Whilst a poor standard of writing closes opportunities, a proven ability to get your point across on paper will open them up for you. It’s all about showing your prospective employer that you have the ability to get the job done in a flexible and adaptable way, and writing perfect English is a big part of that process. Treat it like any other skill that you would otherwise be practicing, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly things start to improve.
School is only the beginning of the learning experience
Too many people think that school is where you learn everything you need for a lifetime, and it’s just not the case. The minute you have one of two of your peers pushing and extending themselves by learning additional skills after you all leave school, you’ll begin to fall behind.
You might think that you could always just pay someone to write my essay, but that’s not something you can do forever. You need to be learning new skills continuously, and working with a tutor is the perfect way to make it a part of your normal weekly routine.
An expert will make unlearning bad habits so much easier
We all learn plenty of bad habits throughout the course of our lifetimes, but the problem is that we don’t necessarily know that we’re making most of them. If you work with a personal language tutor to give your words the once over, you’ll be able to get some invaluable critical feedback that will enable you to make the small changes that result in big differences.
If you want to be able to get a promotion, you need a language tutor
Last but not least, you need to remember that a language tutor isn’t just for students who want to get a better grade. By being able to polish your language skills, a tutor will also help you stand out from your colleagues and peers when you enter the world of work. Ideal if you want to be able to finally get the promotion you’ve been coveting.
